The Director of Institutional Giving is an exciting opportunity that blends grant writing, donor relationships, and project management. In partnership with the Development team and Co-CEOs, the Director of Institutional Giving is responsible for managing the organization’s institutional fundraising strategy to raise $1.4M annually and grow year over year. In partnership with the Senior Director of Development, this key role will design and manage an effective multi-year strategy to grow institutional revenue and deeply engage Girl Leadership’s institutional partners and stakeholders. The ideal candidate has experience managing an institutional pipeline, is a strong relationship-builder, and incorporates Community-Centric Fundraising practices into their work. This is a full-time position that reports to the Senior Director of Development.
This fundraising leader will oversee and generate revenue from foundations, corporate partners, and government sources. The Director of Institutional Giving will maintain a portfolio of 20+ foundation and corporate partners while serving as lead project manager for the institutional revenue pipeline.
Responsibilities:
Fundraising (75%)
- Project manage the institutional pipeline consisting of 40+ funding partners totalling $1.4M for a $2.3M contributed revenue goal in FY25.
- Strategically manage relationships with institutional funders; engage the Co-CEOs and Senior Director of Development, and other program/development colleagues, as needed.
- Grow institutional pipeline through research and prospecting activities; manage stewardship activities of current funders. Conduct in-person and virtual donor visits/meetings to maintain and strengthen relationships.
- Write and oversee the creation of high-quality grant proposals and reports that convey the organization’s impact.
- Create and maintain pipeline management processes in Salesforce, Asana, and Google Workspace to efficiently manage the institutional pipeline.
- Partner with program staff to craft innovative funding opportunities that are aligned with organizational values.
- Partner with Finance on grants, financial audits, and program budgets.
- Maintain high data integrity in Salesforce for all institutional funders and related contacts and records.
Strategy and Forecasting (15%)
- Partner with the Senior Director of Development to develop and execute an annual institutional fundraising plan to meet and/or exceed revenue goals.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage institutional funding partners.
- Track progress of institutional revenue quarterly and annually; leverage historical data to forecast and project institutional revenue annually and over time, in partnership with Finance.
- Stay abreast of current funding trends in education and gender equity.
- Monitor trends, policies and legislation that impact or create funding opportunities for the organization.
- As needed, support the Development Committee of the Board of Directors and inform the board’s institutional fundraising strategy.
Team Support (10%)
- Lead content generation and copy editing on all grant proposals and reports.
- Support copy editing and content development for other fundraising initiatives (annual report, thought leadership pieces, and marketing materials).
Skills and Experiences Required:
- Development/Fundraising: 2-4 years of experience managing an institutional revenue pipeline;
- Demonstrated experience fundraising from foundations, corporations, and government entities with a successful track record of generating new revenue opportunities and retaining institutional funders for multiple years;
- Proven ability to engage and influence philanthropic leaders with a track record of cultivating and stewarding mission- and values-aligned gifts;
- Project Management: Experience in planning, leading, and managing institutional fundraising projects, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to Co-CEOs/Board of Directors leveraging project management tools and CRMs (Salesforce experience a plus);
- Communications: Skilled in creating equity-centered and compelling written communications for fundraising. Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials. Experience and credibility when presenting materials to external audiences;
- Collaboration: Effective at working with others to reach common goals and objectives;
- Relationship Building: Skilled at establishing and cultivating strong relationships with peers, across different levels of the organization and externally.

Girls Leadership has a hybrid work policy with employees working approximately 50% of their time in-person.
Compensation & Benefits: Salary is $98,000. Benefits include health insurance, optional dental/vision, annual professional development budget, two weeks paid vacation time, four weeks of office closure for wellness, paid sick time, 11 paid holidays per year, and a 401(k) plan available after one year of service.
