Building Brave Communities is more than a training — it’s an opportunity to reimagine what belonging looks like in elementary classrooms. Rooted in Girls Leadership’s transformational SEL framework, this one-day immersive experience equips educators to create learning environments where every child feels seen, valued, and empowered to lead.
Co-created with students, the K–5 curriculum at the heart of this training centers their voices and experiences. Educators gain tools to integrate social-emotional learning into everyday instruction, while students build confidence, empathy, and leadership through play, reflection, and collaboration.
The result? Classrooms where courage is practiced daily, relationships are nurtured intentionally, and community becomes the foundation for academic and emotional growth.
Participants will:
- Experience powerful community in just one day that opens up new possibilities for social and emotional learning
- Apply learnings and practices to their own lives so that they can share the experience authentically with their students.
- Receive the full 95 lesson Elementary School Curriculum, including 30 lessons that apply to their grade level, co-created by girls and designed to succeed in co-ed classrooms
This one day immersive training is designed to create a powerful sense of community in the small cohort. Coffee, snacks, and lunch are provided. The training is co-facilitated by Girls Leadership trainers, who bring play, intention, and mindfulness to the experience. Participants leave equipped with a full elementary school curriculum, including lessons for every level of K-5, organized around Girls Leadership’s Social and Emotional learning domains (see below), including the foundational Brave Space Groundwork practices.
Brave Space Groundwork and all Girls Leadership curriculum are co-created with girls and developed by Girls Leadership’s training and curriculum experts to equip youth-serving professionals with the tools to bring the curriculum to life with youth. Rooted in the voices and experiences of girls, the curriculum has been tested with educators and students to ensure it meets their needs and supports meaningful and inclusive communities.
