About the Book
Brianna Justice has big dreams for her future. She wants to open her own bakery, have her own TV cooking show, and be a millionaire. And she knows the best way to start accomplishing these goals is to be elected Fifth Grade President, just like her hero Miss Delicious.
When a new girl in class threatens her chances, Brianna decides to get serious about winning. But, is she willing to risk her friends and her integrity? Brianna realizes that it’s just as important to be proud of herself as it is to win. After all, her slogan – “Justice for All!” – is more than just a bunch of words. Author Sherri Winston sprinkles Presidential history and recipes for Brianna’s cupcakes that I hope will inspire and delight our young readers, especially during this important election month!
The Girls Leadership Connection
In every relationship, it’s important to have brave conversations. When Brianna neglects her friends, she has to gather her courage and apologize. She finds that saying an apology is only the beginning. She has to back up her words with actions that show she truly understands the meaning of friendship and justice.
Giving a heartfelt apology to someone in our lives takes a lot of bravery. What are other kinds of brave conversations? Do you avoid these conversations, or do you face them head on?
Buy, borrow, or download a copy of this book and read it before your November book club meeting.
