Girls Leadership + Gotham FC = Keep Her in the Game

Sports are a powerful source of leadership development and well-being for youth. Studies show that girls who participated in sports had higher rates of academic achievement and hope for the future. Yet by age 14, girls start dropping out of sports at twice the rate of their male peers. That rate is even higher for girls with marginalized identities.

That’s why Girls Leadership is proud of our partnership with Gotham Football Club for Keep Her in the Game, a youth sports program specifically designed for coaches working with girls and gender-expansive youth. Coaches, parents and caregivers in the program will receive research-backed training activities to integrate into their team culture, practices, and home lives, to support the girls’ ongoing social-emotional development. Together with Gotham FC, we will reach 1,000 girls in our first year!
