Sybil Henry

Administrative and Development Associate

Sybil was born in the Bay Area but has lived all over the West Coast and she’s very excited to be back in Oakland for good with Girls Leadership. She graduated from Washington State University with a double major in International Business and Spanish. After graduating, she joined the Peace Corps in Costa Rica working in the economic development program. While there she partnered with the local women’s organization for various community development projects and found a passion in women’s and girl’s empowerment. She then returned to the Bay Area and spent some time working in recruitment and sales, but soon decided her calling is for public service and development. After this, she spent a year working for a non profit in the Dominican Republic that serves Haitian refugee youths in educational and community development projects. This is where she discovered her love for the non profit sector and fundraising and she’s very excited to learn more and grow in this position. When she’s not in the office, she loves to spend her time traveling, hiking, teaching yoga classes and getting outside. You can also find her riding her longboard around the city on a nice day or hitting the slopes in the winter!
