Meredith, a Bay Area native, joins Girls Leadership with 20 years of experience in the youth and social issues field. She holds a Bachelors degree from U.C. Berkeley with a major in Conservation Resource Studies, a Master of Public Administration degree from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs, and is currently finishing her Master of School Counseling degree at USF’s School of Education.
Meredith began her career developing public information media campaigns for young people at the Kaiser Family Foundation. For over 10 years she developed cross-platform campaigns for such companies at MTV, BET, and Univision, reaching 15 to 25 year olds with powerful messages about pressing social issues, including, HIV/AIDS and teen pregnancy. She left the Foundation a few years ago to pursue more direct service work with young people. While she strongly believes in the power of the media to make change in the lives of young people, she wanted to get a few steps closer to young people, and decided to pursue a degree in school counseling with an emphasis on girls leadership.
She now divides her time between working as a School Counselor at Old Mill School in Mill Valley and The Cove School in Corte Madera, studying at USF, and teaching workshops with Girls Leadership. When she’s not working in the schools, she is hanging out with her family, playing and creating with her daughter, hiking with her dogs, or practicing yoga. Meredith lives with her 8 year old daughter, her 16 year old step-daughter, and family in Mill Valley.
Meredith is thrilled to be working with Girls Leadership because she strongly believes in the importance and power of helping girls find and be their authentic selves.
