Lisa Klein comes to Girls Leadership with 30 plus years of experience in education. Working as an artist/educator in an age range spanning pre-K through graduate students at universities, Lisa’s academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree from UCLA, with a major in English Literature and a minor in studio art. She holds a Masters degree in Theology and the Arts from Pacific School of Religion, and an MFA degree in Dramatic Arts/Acting from UC Davis. In addition, she holds a California Teaching Credential from JFK University, Orinda, where she was an Urban Teaching Fellow. She has also worked professionally as a circus clown, actress, improviser, and director. As a community builder, Lisa delights in connecting people, nature, and arts. She is a life-long learner, and has continued professional development courses at NYU, Creative Dance Center Seattle, and Yoga Teacher Training in the Bay Area. Her passion for teaching, creativity, and empowering young people, especially girls, spilled into the art fields and currently she is teaching at Julia Morgan School for Girls, East Bay Center for Performing Arts, Laughingstock, and GL. Lisa lives in Oakland with her husband, in a lovely house two blocks from a beautiful park with a stream flowing through it. At any given moment, you might find her in the woods hiking, riding, practicing yoga, performing in a show, writing, reading, dancing, cooking, traveling or just clowning around.
