Laura Purpura received her Bachelors degree in psychology from the University of California San Diego and her Masters in Marital and Family Therapy with a specialization in art therapy from Notre Dame de Namur University. For over a decade prior to receiving her MFT, Laura was an elementary school educator and mentor teacher in Palo Alto, CA. It was in the elementary school classroom that Laura discovered a passion for art therapy, and after her degree she returned to the public school system to work with children struggling with social emotional disorders. She found her young clients were able to freely express themselves through art and theatre when other methods had proved unsuccessful. Laura is thrilled to be joining the Girls Leadership team of educators and is passionate about helping girls feel empowered, find their inner voice, and be true to themselves. While Laura is currently kept very busy raising her four children she tries to find time to read, be outdoors, pursue photography, and travel!
