I am a native of California. My family has been here for 6 generations. My Great Grandfather was one of the first doctors in Lake County (North of the Napa), and my father remembers being the first home in that area to have electricity. I have always wanted to be a teacher, but delayed that dream to stay home with our 4 daughters. I took my first teaching job when our youngest was a senior in High School. I love teaching and being with my students makes my heart feel happy. I have taught third or fourth grade at Oak Street School in Saratoga, CA, for almost 20 years. Through the years, I have seen many young people struggle with the social and emotional side of life. I believe in a good education, but having the skills to function in healthy relationships, is what really allows a person to have quality of life. I want this for my own daughters, my six grand daughters, and every other young girl or woman. I believe Girls’ Leadership has a realistic and powerful curriculum that helps girls find their authentic self. I feel blessed and grateful to be a part of this organization with such an import mission.
