Jason grew up in an education family, but never thought he would become an educator himself, especially after taking some courses in education in college and becoming disillusioned with the state of schools. A few years later Jason found himself applying for a teaching position at The Prairie School, a coeducational, K-12 independent school in Racine, WI, and fell in love with teaching. While there, he also became an Associate Dean of Students and directed the National Video and Book Library for SEED (Seeking Equity through Education Diversity). In 2001, Jason moved to California and became a founding faculty member of Julia Morgan School for Girls, an all-girls middle school in Oakland, and eventually became the Assistant Director of the Middle School. During this time he also finished a masters degree through Middlebury College. In 2008 and 2009, Jason helped to found East Bay School for Boys with a group of educators, parents and community members dedicated to the well-being and education of our middle school young men; EBSB opened its doors in the fall of 2010 and Jason has been Head of School ever since.
