Ja’Nay Jenkins is a community healing veteran who has spent her life uplifting and empowering girls and women. She believes when you uplift a girl, you uplift the entire generation. Ja’Nay was born and raised in the SF Bay Area and is a strong advocate for the underserved and under resourced.
Ja’Nay has fought for the rights and wages of employee’s in the work place as a Union Organizer for the Service Employees International Union(SEIU). She has served as the Local Election Supervisor for KPFA; a SF Bay Area radio station, that is independent of government and corporate control. She has dedicated years of her life as a Senior counselor for the California Autism Foundation. At the age of 14 she played an integral role in the Wellness Program, which is a steering committee in Richmond,CA dedicated to the betterment of youth through tutoring, health awareness,and grant writing to provide funding for community activities. Currently an active participant for the Love Not Blood Campaign, a grassroots social justice organization that supports families that have been traumatically impacted by police violence, community violence, and institutional racism.
Ja’Nay has dedicated over 15 years and counting of volunteering for the Richmond Rescue Mission and the St. Anthony’s Foundation. She also leads her own family and community based initiatives such as hosting community breakfast, coat, blanket, purse and hug drives. She continues to gather up community members no matter what role in society they play. Ja’Nay is also a resource for grieving girls and women who are recovering from the loss of their mothers. It is through these acts of service that she is able to bring joy to the hearts of the community.
Ja’Nay has spent the last decade working in the tech industry in the areas of D&I, employee retention, recruiting, office and event management.
She feels that both her professional and personal experiences have led her to Girl’s Leadership. She is thrilled to be a strong pillar of support in the mission to equip girls with the tools to use the power of their voice.
Ja’Nay is a proud parent who enjoys a plant based lifestyle, hiking, cooking for her family and singing 90’s R&B Karaoke.
