Dr. Jia Nettles

Sports Program Director

Jia joins Girls Leadership, bringing with her more than a decade of experience as a physical education teacher and head coach of multiple sports. She believes that sports are symbolic of life, requiring character, teamwork, discipline, resilience, compassion, healthy communication, and respect. Therefore, Jia’s approach to teaching and coaching has focused on utilizing sports as opportunities to develop the youth not only physically, but also mentally, emotionally, and socially by instilling in them skills and values that they can carry with them throughout their lifetime.

Jia holds a B.S. in Kinesiology from Louisiana State University, a M.S. in Sports Administration from Western Kentucky University, and received her Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Innovation from St. Thomas University of Florida. In her free time, she enjoys watching and cheering for her hometown sports teams, the New Orleans Saints, New Orleans Pelicans, and the LSU Tigers. She also likes to play video games and listen to podcasts.
