Cassandra Brown is a theatre educator and critical pedagogue with an unapologetic commitment to creating environments where young people of all abilities have access to quality art programming and can develop and rock! Before joining Girls Leadership, she served as a Residency Manager for Young Audiences NY, supervising 40 teaching artists. She also was the Performing Arts Coordinator for the Sports & Arts in Schools Foundation, ensuring that Teaching Artists at 110 schools implemented curriculum that strengthened literacy and leadership through the performing arts. She teaches workshops on the culturally-relevant classroom, with an emphasis on trauma-informed practice, informed by her time studying the performance of death, disease, and trauma in Lima, Peru.
Cassandra has devoted her life’s work to social equity, working in an administrative and teaching capacity throughout NYC and with various education-and-career nonprofits.
