Areyla is a California native and is thrilled to be joining the team of educators at Girls Leadership! She has recently returned stateside after spending years abroad in Europe. She attended graduate school in Barcelona, Spain at the International School of Physical Theater; Berty Tovias, and then spent two years in Scandinavia dancing full time while teaching at the Copenhagen Film and Theater School. She received her B.A. from University of California at Santa Cruz in Theater Arts. She has worked extensively with devising, improvisation and ensemble-based theater. Areyla is very excited to be living in the Bay Area and is currently working as a teaching artist with Performing Arts Workshop, California Shakespeare Theater as well as teaching dance, performing and choreographing around the Bay. She is so happy to be working with an organization employing educational theater modalities to deepen self-expression, foster leadership and expand emotional vocabulary!
