Anneka Fagundes

Program Manager

Anneka has been committed to engaging theatre as a tool for education and social change in communities across New York City and the Bay Area for over ten years. As an applied theatre practitioner/facilitator, Anneka has developed and facilitated drama-based programming with organizations including The Creative Arts Team, The Story Pirates, Making Books Sing, Urban Stages, The Leadership Program and the All Stars Project. In her work, she uses applied and educational theatre methodology to address social themes including bullying, social/emotional and language literacy skills, body image, social citizenship, leadership and more. Anneka’s interest in working internationally has led her to Rwanda, Guatemala and South Korea, where she has facilitated and participated in various community-based projects. Preceding her current role as Program Manager, Anneka wore many hats at Girls Leadership, including East Coast Senior Educator and Summer Program Teaching Director.  As Program Manager, Anneka enjoys overseeing the fabulous team of over 70 educators, supporting year-round family and girl programming, cultivating community relationships and partnerships, and getting her hands dirty with curriculum development and piloting. Anneka earned her Master’s degree in Applied Theatre from CUNY School of Professional Studies, and holds a BA in Drama from Vassar College.
